Description
The workshop "Bioinspired and Evolutionary Computation based Data Mining Techniques" at 9th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA 2009) aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners in bioinspired, evolutionary and other metaheuristics algorithms applied to Data Mining problems and techniques.
The need for obtaining better models in data mining, e.g. more accurate predictive models or better fitted to the data descriptive models, has provided a considerable room for bioinspired and evolutionary algorithms (metaheuristics in general) that have demonstrate a great performance when provided of enough resources (mainly CPU time). The goal of the session is to serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas and discussion on recent and new trends for research in the interaction between bioinspired/evolutionary/metaheuristic algorithms and data mining techniques. We encourage authors to submit original papers as well as preliminary and promising works in the topics of the workshop.
Topics
- Data preprocessing (variable/feature selection, instante selection, discretization, ...).
- Rule based systems.
- Classification and numerical prediction.
- Neural networks and fuzzy-neural networks.
- Genetic fuzzy systems.
- Hard and soft Clustering.
- Association analysis (association rules, bayesian networks, ...).
- Models postprocessing/refinement (tuning weigths, pruning, ...).
- Scalability issues (fast evaluation, parallel approaches, ...).
- Applications to real-word problems (text mining, web mining, industry, bioinformatics, ...).
